Today has been spent having a lazy day with Liam before going back to work tomorrow. This consisted of watching TV, eating junk food and dreaming of our future and what we both want for our little girl. It got me thinking about what kind of Mother I want to be, what I want to teach my Daughter. There are many things in life that I want to teach my daughter as she grows up. I’m also sure that this list will grow over the years.
- You are absolutely and undeniably unique. You are one of a kind, and there is no one like you in the world. BE YOURSELF. It will draw people to you for the rest of your life.
- Life is not a race. Never compare yourself to where the people around you are. Your plan is different than anyone else’s plan. Remember that.
- Lists are your friend. Make them, and enjoy the glorious feeling of crossing off an item.
- Music makes everything better.
- Step outside your comfort zone. You’ll be surprised.
- You’re never too old for Harry Potter or Disney – Ever!!
- Nothing you do can make me or your father stop loving you.
- We don’t stop playing when we get old. We get old because we stop playing.
- Live alone at least once in your life. You will learn more about yourself in that time than you ever can imagine.
- Bad hair days are inevitable.
- You can’t control what others think about you. Let it go.
- Don’t be afraid of a broken heart.
- A good friend loves at all times. Period.
- Don’t be a people-pleaser. Just be honest and do what’s right, even if it’s not popular.
- Friends will make or break you. Seek out good friends. Be the kind of friend you wish you had.
- Chronic complaining is unattractive. Develop your problem solving skills. If you aren’t willing to make the proper change, you aren’t allowed to whine about the problem.
- Never deny an adventure.
- Learn at least one other language.
- There’s no such thing as perfect.
- You can always come home, no matter how old you are.
- Keep a journal. Write your story. It’s therapy.
- Learn to play at least one instrument
- Part of doing things yourself is making mistakes. Mistakes can always be fixed.
- You never know who is watching and looking up to you. Never forget that you are always an example to someone.
- Be kind to everyone. Even strangers. You don’t know what they are going through.
- Hard work will get you further than anything in life.
- Eat the extra slice of pizza.
- Learn to see the beauty in the world. It’s all around. You just have to open your eyes.
- Take road trips often
- There is more to life than money. Money can never make you happy. Debt will rot your soul. Avoid unnecessary debt
- A bowl of popcorn and Singing In the Rain will mend a heart. Gene Kelly and his tap-dancing feet will take your problems away for 1.5 hours.
- Camping is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Do it at least once a year
- Always sing in the car.
- The most beautiful thing you can do is smile.
- Embrace whatever genre of music you enjoy listening to. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s “not music.”
- Don’t be catty to other women. You’ll need them when we all overthrow the world together.
- Don’t let any man convince you that he is powerful enough to change you.
- True love is doing the dishes together and inside jokes over silly things.
- Original NES nintendo will never go out of style.
- There’s no such thing as too many pillows.
- It’s OK if you don’t want to play princess or put on makeup…But it’s OK if you do, too.
- Please, watch Friends.
- Go to a music festival at least once.
- When it rains, pause to go jump in a puddle. Dance, while you’re at it.
- Girls can like Star Wars too.
- Be brave enough to try new foods at least once.
- Meet someone who makes you laugh so hard you pee.
- Don’t regret the times you feel sad. How else will you appreciate the times you feel good?
- Coffee is good for your soul
- Be the first to volunteer when someone needs help.
- Being passive aggressive is immature. When you have a problem with something or someone, do the right thing and talk to them about it. It’s hard. But it’s better.
- Always say “I love you” before you leave.
- Take LOTS of pictures.
- You are the master of your fate.
