Hello!!
It’s Agata here from @the_treasure_babes over on Instagram! We’re super excited to join in with Blogtober and share some Autumn play ideas with you. My boy is one year old and this is his second Autumn. Last year he was only two months old, but he already experienced crunching leaves with his little feet. This year we can be more adventurous as he can walk, run, crunch and kick the leaves! Try and collect some leaves and bring them inside for your child to explore the textures with their bare feet!
We love using natural loose parts in our play to spark creativity and which are easy to manipulate. I try to find objects which are not plastic and safe for my boy to put in his mouth. Loose parts are open-ended materials, there is no wrong way of playing with them!
We also like to use textures in our play such as rice, sand, cereals etc. This time we used lentils to create some Autumn experience. As my boy plays with such items regularly, he’s not tasting any of the textures provided anymore. Before I often distracted him and showed him a different way of playing with the textures. Keep it positive! This time he really wanted to take his socks off and feel the texture himself.
Be adventurous with your setups, search your house for loose parts first and keep it simple. Observe what your child like to do with objects. My boy loves putting things inside or through other objects so I try to provide tubes, cups, rings with every play to keep him engaged and involved!
Big thank you to Charlotte for allowing me to be a guest on her blog!
