I have said it before and I will say it again, there’s nothing more fun than sensory play! Children of all ages love hands-on play, where they can feel textures, squash things, get creative and use their imagination. This is why we love sensory play activities because they keep Molly busy and happy, plus they are so affordable and easy to put together.
The best part is that this activity is not only fun but it’s taste safe! So if you’re child is playing with this Halloween sensory activity and decides to have a nibble or two, you don’t have to worry about it. It’s completely edible and safe.
For this activity I cooked a batch of spaghetti, and then separated it into 4 different containers. I then added a different food colouring into each one. I went for green, red, orange and then I tried to make purple out of red and blue colouring. It came out more pink and probably would have been better if I had just got purple food colouring, but oh well! I then shook the containers and left them for around 30 mins.
Then, I rinsed and dried the spaghetti and placed onto a tray, placed a few Halloween themed toys onto the tray, spiders and bats (just to make it a bit more Halloween themed) and let Molly play and explore. She loved grabbing handful’s of the spaghetti and picking out the bats. She got so excited that she was flapping her arms about and flinging spaghetti everywhere – we couldn’t stop laughing!!
Yes, she ate some, we knew that would happen!
As you can see from the crazy amount of photos taken, a lot of fun was had! You can go nuts with this and really get creative. Use other colours for the spaghetti and add all sorts of toys, adapting for whatever theme you’re going for!
