Halloween Fun at CWOAR | Blogtober Day 22

I knew that this year I wanted to visit Chessington world of Adventures (CWOA) during their Halloween events. We made the decision to visit the night before we went! I was like a kid at Christmas, I bloody love CWOA.

We were greeted on arrival by a great display of pumpkins, tombstones and skeletons! The decorations throughout the park were brilliant, with great attention to detail.

There were so many things to do we weren’t sure where to start! I had got us fast passes for Flying Jumbo, The Gruffalo Ride and Toads cars, 3 rides I knew Molly could go on. With it being the school holidays, I didn’t want to risk having to wait in line for ages with a 10 month old!

Liam’s mum came with us. She has never been to CWOA with Bug, and didn’t know what to expect. The first ride we went on was Sea Dragons. It’s a small boat ride that goes round and round. Molly loves it! From then on, after seeing Molly’s reaction, I think Liam’s mum was even more excited about the day ahead!

After a quick change for Molly, we went to see a live reading of “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s. I didn’t know what to expect with this, but it was really good! There was a lot of audience participation, and clapping, which Molly loved! We even had our photo taken with the Witch after, as well as making Molly post for a photo in one of those props with the face holes!

Speaking of “Room on the broom”. If you have ever been to CWOA, you will know about Hocus Pocus hall. Hocus Pocus hall has been at CWOA since I was little. I used to love putting on my 3D glasses and walking around this “haunted” house. Being made jump by tiny goblins, and walking face first into several mirrors in a mirror maze will forever be a childhood memory of mine. Sadly, getting rid of Mr Burps Bubble works ( a different story – I will never forgive you CWOA ) wasn’t enough. They are evicting the pesky goblins to make more room on the broom. The haunted mansion is turning into an immersive walk through of the beloved book.

Whilst i’m sad to see the goblins go, I am rather excited about this new addition!

Next we headed over to the zoo part of the park. Molly has never been to the zoo part before, so it was nice to have a mooch. We grabbed a coffee and went off to explore. Molly seems to amaze me everyday with how much she is changing and developing. She is so much more aware now, and more interested in the animals. It was so lovely seeing her point to everything. Each point was accompanied with a tiny noise, we guess her way of saying look.

We went over to The Gruffalo ride to use our fast pass before lunch. I do miss the Bubble works, and it will forever hold a very special place in my heart. But I do have to give it to CWOA, The Gruffalo ride is pretty fecking awesome. Molly was glued the entire time. I though I had filmed the whole things, to then get to the end of the ride and realize I hadn’t pressed record. Because I’m an idiot. Serious face palm moment right there.

Lunch we went to the amazing No Dogs restaurant that’s right by the Rattlesnake ride. They do the best vegan food ever. I love their hot dogs and nuggets. Molly loves them too which is a plus! During lunch I changed Molly into her Witches outfit, ready for the rest of the day. I couldn’t get over how stinking cute she was with her little Witches hat headband on!

We decided to try and do the rest of the rides and the sea life before it got dark. I wanted to see the Halloween live show and do the trick or treat woods, but when it got darker. I knew the lighting ect would be so much better when darker -Turns out I was right!

They have an animal carousel that Molly has never been on before. I wasn’t sure how she would do if I am honest. Turns out she loved it!! We chose an animal that rocked as apposed to going up and down. Just seemed a little safer to me. She was so cute, holding onto the handle and rocking the animal on her own. Liam took photos, every time we went past him she got all excited and squealed! My heart, seriously!

Next was the sea life center. Again, we have never taken Molly to a sea life before, however we did take her to London zoo back in April and she loved the aquarium there. As soon as we walked in she was mesmerized.

I think the best part was the tunnel, where you walk through a giant fish tank. Full of different fish, rays and sharks. We were stood there looking at everything for a good 15 minuets, to be honest I’m pretty sure we could have been in there for hours!

Right outside the sea life there was a little “Room on the broom” photo op. There was nobody there so we took the opportunity to try and get some snaps of Molly in her Witches outfit. Liam had to kneel on the fool and hold her up to make it look like she was making potions or something.

Lets just say it took a very long time and I haven’t laughed that much in a while!

As it got later, it got darker and colder! We stopped off in one of the shops in Wild Asia to get Liam’s mum a jumper because she was cold. I couldn’t help but get Molly one of those giant light up wand things. She loved it. I had to take it off of her though as I was certain she would knock some poor kid out!

We set off to grab seats for the evening live Halloween show! It was a pretty good show. Singing and dancing to Halloween themed songs. Main thing is, Molly enjoyed it. She spent the entire time sitting on my lap, dancing and clapping her hands, looking at all the lights. So glad we saw it at night!!

We ended our day with the interactive experience for younger children and families called The Trick or Treat wood. We waited until dark to enter the woods as the bushes and that around the maze were covered with sparkling lights that made the whole area magical. The actors were brilliant and the costumes were fantastic. Molly was full on laughing the entire way though. The whole group we were with were just laughing at Molly. It was so cute and I am so glad that we chose to do it. The trick or treat woods was perfect for smaller children, you even got a treat at the end ( shout out to Organix )It was the perfect end to such an amazing day out!

Molly and Liam at the end of The trick or treat woods!

I can’t wait to go back to CWOA for their Christmas event!
