This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night– The Nightmare Before Christmas
I feel like every year Halloween is being embraced more and more in the UK. Although, it might just be me embracing it a little more now that I have Molly! I have always been a big fan of the holidays, but there’s something a little different about them when you have children of your own, it’s a whole new level of excitement!
This year Liam worked an early shift at work, meaning he was home by 2! Because we never make plans, we decided last minute to go to our local soft play as they advertised Halloween fun ( turns out they literally just put up some Halloween decorations – slightly disappointed ). We dressed Molly up and headed into town. Before heading to soft play, we popped into a few shops first to pick up some more Halloween decorations and sweets as we decided to take part in trick or treating.
We then headed to soft play expecting it to be rammed – It was dead! We were literally the only ones there and we had SO much fun!
When we got home, Liam and I decorated the front of the house with webs and light projectors. Then we put the pumpkins out the front and put glow sticks and flashing light toys in them instead of the normal candles! We got the cauldron of sweets ready and by the front door. I put on a skeleton t-shirt that played music, and we got Molly her Witches hat! Molly loved it, every time to doorbell she would get all kicky feet, and she would clap er hands at people at the front door. She got several “oh my god how cute” and a few “awwws” from observing parents at the end of the driveway. She would then wave them goodbye with the sweetest giggle!
We ran out of sweets, so had to close up shop early. Overall it was a hit, everyone had fun, In laws included! Next year Molly would be almost 2, so we might take her out trick or treating depending on weather. Is it bad that we already have a family costume for next year sorted?
What did you do for Halloween this year?
