Baby #2: 20 Weeks | The Halfway Mark!

“You never understand life until it grows inside of you.” – Sandra C. Kassis

`

How far along?

I am exactly 20 weeks Pregnant. Halfway there. There have been a few appointments since 16 weeks. I first had my appointment with the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I stopped the progesterone pessary at 16 weeks, and I’m to take the Asprin until 22 weeks. They were super happy with how everything is progressing, and how baby is doing so they discharged me. Meaning I’ve gone from high risk to low risk. This means there’s a greater chance of me being able to have a water birth. As long as my hips hold out! Then we had our 20 week scan, baby is growing nicely and wriggling around like a good’un and the heartbeat was 136. We were in the scan for 45 minuets because the midwife was training on a new machine. We didn’t mind at all as we got to see baby for all that time. Baby didn’t make it easy either, was face down, arms moving around and getting in the way. Just like its sister did! I then had my first midwife appointment, everything was fine and dandy with the heartbeat being 148. We still don’t know what baby is, and are so excited to be Team Yellow!

Symptoms?

My sickness FINALLY eased up around 18 weeks. I have moments where i’m sick, either due to smells or just because. But I’d rather that then every 15-30 minuets! I have had a few pains in my left hip and lower back. This normally happens if I walk to much. I am already doing everything I can to prevent me from getting SPD this time round. Keeping knees together when getting in and out of the car, using the lift where possible instead of stairs and sleeping with a pillow between my legs. The midwife advised I get a support belt again, and I still remember when Physio taught me last time, so I’m going to implement that now to try and prevent further pain. I really want that water birth!! Heartburn made an appearance this week too – give me all the Rennie!!

Total weight gain/loss.

I have put on a little weight, but m still just under my weight at my booking appointment. I don’t feel as bloated this time – may be because with Molly I was pregnant throughout the Summer, and I did not get on with the heat!

Any Food cravings?

Still loving all the fruit and veg! Fresh apple juice too. We have just done our weekly shop, and its legit all fruit and veg!

Maternity clothes?

I’m still in just the one pair of leggings. I really need to get some more because my old leggings and jeans no longer fit. even the old hairband trick can’t help me now!

Any Stretch marks?

Funnily enough, I have a few but on my boobs as apposed to my stomach! Add a maternity bra to that list of clothing I need to get!

How’s Sleep?

The last week, sleep has been amazing! I don’t get up to pee half way through if I go right before bed, and I’m waking up at 7 with Molly.

Best moment this week.

Feeling baby move. It was definitely baby and not gas bubbles!! Molly has been obsessed with bump recently. Yesterday she was drawing on my belly with chalk, talking to the baby, giving kisses and being so loving. I honestly can;t wait for her and baby to meet, she is going to be the best big sister!

Miss Anything?

Not really. With molly I missed sushi, but I don’t eat fish anymore, so I can still eat all the things I used to eat before falling pregnant. I can now drink tea and coffee without gagging which makes me very happy and mornings that little more manageable!

Felt Any Movement?

Yes! Only small movements, but they are getting stronger as the days go on. I can’t wait forMolly to be able to feel them!

Gender?

Same as 16 weeks – We have decided to be team Yellow and not find out. We have picked our girls name and are still struggling on a boys name! If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments below!

Happy or Moody most of the time?

I am pretty happy most of the time. My fuse however is rather short at times, so I can go from super happy to super frustrated in 0.5 seconds. Some days are better than others, and I am trying my hardest to take deep breaths and calm the feck down because, A. I don’t like it and B. Nobody like a stressy pants.

Looking forward to..

I am looking forward to feeling baby move around more, going for our 4D scan ( which needs to be booked nearer the time) and getting everything ready for baby to arrive!
