Molly Turns Two

Dear Molly,

How on earth are you two years old? How do I have a two year old? It honestly seems like yesterday you came into our lives, and changed them for the better. Time is passing us by too quickly, and I just want to stop time, just for a little bit.

YOUR 18 MONTH UPDATES:

Personality:

To be honest, not a lot has changed since your 18 month update. You’re still full of determination and sass, I don’t think that’s going to go away anytime soon! You are so loving to everyone you meet. You’re strong willed, independent and clever. You have the biggest heart and the kindest soul.

Five words I’d use to describe your personality are:
  • Clever
  • Loving
  • Playful
  • Sassy
  • Independant
  • Creative

Size:

You are still wearing cloth nappies, however you are showing signs of wanting to use the potty. Telling us when you’ve done a wee, or more. You get tissue or a wipe to wipe yourself when being changed. You also know what your potty is, take your nappy off and sit on it. We just need to work on your understanding of having the urge to go for a wee or poop, and that’s when you sit on the potty. We aren’t rushing you in any way, we are following your lead 100% kiddo.

You are now in clothing ages 2-3 and some still 1.5-2. It just depends where they are from. since your 18 month update, your shoe size has gone from a size 4 to a size 6! To be honest, by Spring, I think you’ll be in Size 7!

Health & Development:

I can’t believe how much you have changed developmentally wise. You’re so cognitively aware of everything and everyone around you. Communication wise, you understand what we are saying when talking to you, and you listen to what everyone is saying.  You are much cleverer than you like to make out and you pick up things like a sponge.

Speech wise your vocabulary is incredible. You are learning new words and amazing us with your inelegance daily. I can’t even begin to list the words you can say, but the cutest one for me is when you want something.  I am so proud of how far your speech has come. It’s so nice to be able to have proper little conversations with you. You can say colours, Numbers, make animal noises as well as name them. You love to sing twinkle twinkle, wind the bobbin up, happy and you know it ( complete with actions ) as well as sing along to Let it go from frozen.

When we sing our clean up song, you clean up what we’ve been doing. Dancing to music  is one of your favourite things to do. You love a good musical, especially Matilda and Shrek. You are still our little bookworm and have more books than anything else. Your dad and I have been reading to you since you were tiny, but you now make a choice of what book you want to read, sit without fidgeting, turn the pages, point to things and really enjoy it. It’s so lovely to see!

Mobility wise, there is no stopping you. You have been walking since you were 11 months old. Now you can run, skip, jump, sneaky Stitch ( tip toes ) and are forever climbing things. You can go up and down the stairs safely and know to shut the gate after you. Walking in public is a breeze because even though you’ve your reins, you will insist on holding out hands at all times.

I am probably jinxing things by saying this, fingers crossed I’m not. But, you’ve not been super poorly since you ended up in hospital with a chest infection at like 6/7 months old. You don’t get colds, you’ve yet to get a sickness bug, despite the fact your Grandparents, your Dad and myself all had a horrible sickness bug before Christmas. You managed to avoid it and we’ve no idea how! Basically you’re all round a pretty healthy kid and I will be forever grateful for that fact.

Feeding:

You eat 3 meals a day with a morning and afternoon snack. When you wake up you have a cup of tea. This happens every morning without fail. You hav juice and water that we make it accessible to you at all times so you can drink throughout the day when you want to. Food wise, you are well and truly a fruit bat. Any fruit we have given you, you have loved! You still have a thing for Veggies, especially peas, broccoli and carrots. To be perfectly honest you eat whatever we eat. We eat the same meals and don’t adapt them in anyway for you. You have always loved food and we’ve been lucky that you’ve not been a fussy eater.

Sleep:

A big thing happened since your 18 month update. You are now sleeping in your very own big girl bed. It may still be in our room, next to our bed, but you sleep in your bed all night, no problem. We were lucky with the transition as it went incredibly smoothly from the get go. Probably because you’re still in the same room as us, and I’ll be eating my words when we have to transition you to your own room when we have the space to do so. But for now, we are taking this as a win, for you and for us. You go to bed around 7-7.30pm and wake anytime between 7-8am. You only nap once during the day now, and the timing of the nap depends on what we are doing for the day, and how tired you are.
